Press Conference - 18th Annual New York Indian Film Festival

The Consulate General of India, New York hosted a press conference for the upcoming 18th Annual New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF). The 6-day festival, organized by Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC), will be held at the Village East Cinemas in the Lower East Side of Manhattan from May 7 to 12, 2018.

2. Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General of India in New York welcomed the guests and media and spoke about the contribution of IAAC and NYIFF in augmenting India-US relations. Ms. Aroon Shivdasani, Executive & Artistic Director, IAAC gave a brief overview of this year's festival followed by specifics of the films by Mr. Aseem Chhabra, NYIFF Director. As many as 7 films being shown at the festival have won this year's national film awards. Trailers of all NYIFF 2018 filmswere screened.

3. This year’s festival features four world premieres, two international premieres, six North American premieres, one US premiere and 11 New York premieres from four South Asian countries as well as North America and the United Kingdom. In all, 78 films in 11 different languages — English, Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Bengali and Assamese — will be screened during the festival.

4. The press conference concluded with an interactive Q & A session between filmmakers and media.
